Rebuilding Lagos Together

More than Bricks and Mortar

The Global Liveability Index 2021 from the Economist Intelligence Unit scored Lagos as the 139th (out of 140) most desirable city to live in. This is in sheer contrast with the Economic viability of the state as the Nigerian Investment Promotion Commission (NIPC) has stated Lagos as the seventh fastest-growing city in the world, with the highest Gross Domestic Product (GDP) and Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) in Nigeria.

The Fund demonstrates government’s commitment to repairing the fault lines of trust between the citizens of Lagos state and the government. In line with the Fund’s mandate, we organise interactive stakeholder sessions to capture needs, requests, and opinions and make recommendations to the government. We work with influencers and leaders in project locations to identify useful skills acquisition training and certifications.

Our contractors are also required to hire qualified and trainee tradesmen, labourers, and other site workers from the project neighbourhoods of their sites. To achieve its softer mandate, the Fund collaborates with strategic partners: donor-funded programmes, non-governmental organisations, foundations, social enterprises, not-for- profit organisations, and corporate organisations with corporate social responsibility departments. These collaborations, strategic partnerships, and brand alliances are deliberate interventions targeting focus groups in the neighbourhoods.
